Fertility Foods that Helps Increase Your Fertility

Fertility Foods that Helps Increase Your Fertility

Fertility Foods that Helps Increase Your Fertility

Food and Fertility are closely related. In fact, there are many fertility foods that can help increase your fertility. What you eat and drink will not only effect the quality of sperm, egg and your fertility, but also the health of your fetus during pregnancy. If you are planning a pregnancy, you need to adopt a healthy, balanced and varied menu.

Fertility Foods to Increase Fertility

Walnuts (Manganese, copper, folate, vitamin B6, thiamin, omega-3 fatty acids, and protein), fatty fish (Omega-3), oysters (Zinc), black-eyed peas (Folic acid), asparagus (Folic acid, rich in antioxidant content), dark chocolate with a high cacao percentage, preferbly over 60% (L-Arginine HCL), Bananas (Bromelain, B vitamins), pumpkin seeds (Iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, copper, and manganese), beef (L-carnitine), watermelon (Lycopene), eggs (Vitamin E, Protein), pomegranates (Antioxidants), garlic (Vitamin B6 and selenium), carrots (Vitamin A), tomatoes (Lycopene), oranges (Vitamin C), avocado (Antioxidants).

Don’t forget to eat from all essential food groups – Carbohydrates, dietary fiber, essential fats, sufficient quantity of proteins and plenty of water.

Drink More Water
We all know that water is necessary for all life forms, yet we often forget to include them in our nutritional program. Two-thirds of our body is water. Sufficient water consumption is essential to maintain balanced hormone levels. Water moves nutrients through your body and help get rid of toxins. Water is not one of the fertility foods simply because it is not a food. Water also aids in the process of fatty acid metabolism stored in the body and therefore water drinking is critical to balance your body weight.

Drink at least one and a half liters of water every day (6-8 glasses of water per day). Tap water may contain heavy metals and pollutants – and there are studies that link these and abortion. Check your water filter, otherwise you should drink bottled water – even when using the water for baking, or hot drinks. Drinking during a meal can dilute your digestive enzymes which helps break down food into smaller building blocks so the body can absorb it more easily.

Hold a bottle of water with you at all time – it will remind you to drink. You can add lemon to the water, a simple trick to help you drink more.

Avoid high consumption of alcohol
Alcohol’s breakdown product, acetaldehyde, interferes with the secretion of testosterone (male hormone), accelerates the conversion of testosterone to estrogen and reduces sperm count. And here are the good news, if you stop drinking alcohol now, most of the damage caused by alcohol will be repaired naturally by your body.

Limit your coffee drinking to 1 cup a day (preferably in the morning)
Currently there are no studies proving a link between coffee consumption and a decrease in male fertility. However, one study found that the combination of smoking and increased caffeine intake (coffee, tea and drinks like cola and other energy drinks) reduced sperm motility and increased dead sperm percentages – so if you love coffee, skip the cigarette next to it.
